Long Beach, California — September 28, 2026 — Champion Health Plan today announced that Center IPA Medical Group, one of California’s prominent Korean‑American physician organizations, has joined the Champion Health Plan provider network. The partnership expands access to physicians who understand the language, culture, and healthcare needs of Korean‑American seniors while supporting Champion’s commitment to coordinated, member‑centered care.
Established in 2013, Center IPA was founded by Korean‑American physicians who recognized the challenges many Korean‑American seniors face navigating the U.S. healthcare system. Language barriers, cultural differences, and unfamiliarity with how healthcare is delivered in the United States can make it difficult for older adults and their families to access and coordinate the care they need.
Today, Center IPA’s network includes more than 2,000 primary care physicians and specialists throughout California and works with numerous hospitals and healthcare organizations to provide comprehensive medical services.
“Center IPA shares our belief that healthcare works best when members have physicians who understand them, communicate with them, and help them navigate their healthcare journey,” said Jay B. Davis, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Champion Health Plan. “This relationship gives Champion members access to an established network of Korean‑American physicians while strengthening our ability to provide culturally responsive care to the communities we serve.”
A Shared Commitment to Korean‑American Seniors
Center IPA was established with a particular focus on serving Korean‑American seniors and providing medical care that recognizes their cultural and linguistic needs. Its physicians work to help patients better understand their health conditions, treatment options, medications, and the healthcare resources available to them.
The organization’s mission closely aligns with Champion Health Plan’s philosophy of Championed Care — healthcare that listens, supports, coordinates, and helps members understand what comes next.
“Healthcare should never feel more difficult because of language or cultural differences,” Davis said. “Our goal is to surround our members with people who can help — from their primary care physician and specialists to our Championed Care Concierge Team. Center IPA will be an important part of that experience for Korean‑American members and their families.”
Through the network relationship, eligible Champion Health Plan members will have access to participating Center IPA primary care physicians and specialists in applicable service areas, subject to their individual plan and provider network.
Building Healthcare Around the Communities We Serve
Champion Health Plan serves Medicare beneficiaries in California and Nevada, including individuals with chronic and complex health conditions. Champion offers Medicare Advantage plans designed to coordinate medical care, prescription drug coverage, preventive services, and supplemental benefits while helping members more easily navigate the healthcare system.
The addition of Center IPA is part of Champion’s broader strategy to develop provider networks that reflect the communities the health plan serves.
“California is extraordinarily diverse, and healthcare cannot be one‑size‑fits‑all,” Davis added. “Strong healthcare starts with quality providers, but it also requires trust, communication, and an understanding of the community. We are excited to welcome Center IPA to the Champion network and look forward to working together to serve Korean‑American seniors throughout Southern California.”
